First ERIN meeting for East Asia held

The first meeting of the Energy Research Institute Network  (ERIN) for East Asia took place on 6th September 2014 at the Rizqun International Hotel, Brunei Darussalam. ERIN is a research network consisting of 16 energy research Institutes of East Asia Summit (EAS) member economies. The main roles of ERIN are to conduct joint energy policy research studies and provide recommendation to policymakers of ERIA, at the same time, to formulate a review team to implement capacity building training in East Asia member countries.


The meeting was hosted by Energy Deparment of Prime Minister Officer and chaired by Brunei National Energy Research Institutes (BNERI).


During the ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding  (MoU) was signed between ERIN and ERIA, representing ERIN was the CEO of BNERI and the the chairman of ERIN , Dr Weerawat Chantanakome, while on ERIA, Prof Hidetoshi Nishimura. On hand to witness the signing was the guest of honour, the Acting Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister Office, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Juned.
