​​Renewable and Alternative Energy Financing Workshop, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 23rd April 2014.


Co-host by: The US Government, Energy Department at the Prime Minister's Office (EDPMO) of Brunei Darussalam, Brunei National Energy Research Institute (BNERI) and Renewable Energy Sub-Sector Network (RE-SSN)


A one-day Renewable and Alternative Energy Financing Workshop during the 21st Annual Meeting of RE-SSN of the ASEAN Energy Cooperation and the 2nd ASEAN Renewable Energy Week.  The Workshop aims to highlight USG and other regional vehicles available to fund renewable energy projects, the criteria and process/requirement for securing financing, and key lessons learned in financing renewable and alternative energy projects in the region.


The US Department of State will organize briefing to ASEAN policy makers on the USACEP financing resources available through the Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), and USAID's Development Credit Authority for renewable energy projects in the Asia Pacific.  The U.S. Trade and Development Agency will also present on its relevant USACEP clean energy programs that facilitate financing and promote project development.  The workshop is also an opportunity to highlight the spring 2014 launch of the Asia-Pacific Clean Energy Program at U.S. Embassy Bangkok to further coordinate and highlight USACEP financing resources for the Asia Pacific region.

 

In addition, under the framework of the East Asia Summit Energy Cooperation Task Force (EAS ECTF) Renewable and Alternative Power Generation Workstream, BNERI will facilitate sharing of current programs of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Finance Corporation (IFC) and other multilateral and bilateral programs promoting deployment of renewable energies, key issues and lessons learned in implementing regional energy projects.
